I see
the children
are in a band,
blogging in coffee shops,
bungholing in marriage,
tweeting
short
thoughts
of interest,
writing apps
that might change
the world
or
at least
find cheap gas
or pay the bar tab.
All this
doesn't
cheer
me
up.
The woman
who weighed
68 pounds
after
three years
in a concentration camp
and still quotes Goethe.
That
cheers
me
up.
