It seemed appropriate that this was most likely the last finished piece of 2013

This is an evolution of this one painting.  The process usually works this way. Start with an idea and then proceed to wrestle with the image until it satisfies itself - becoming whatever it has decided to become.  Its rare fro me to do it once and have any success.  The first top image is the last... or maybe latest...I'll give it some time and see if that's the last resolution. There are several "stages missing when i didn't stop to document - plus there's a completely different older painting under all that - which i was going to trash but I hate making stretchers etc so it was salvaged

 Across section of the diversity happening in the studio as we get closer to the end of 2013 - there's quite a few unresolved pieces I hope to pay more attention to in the next few weeks and they are putting up a good fight...

These are a few shots of the opening night of "Austin vs Houston.
I had seven pieces presented and makes me realize that I need to be more assertive in how the work is presented.  The work seems more diluted in comparison to the way I see it in my studio.  There is a relationship between the individual pieces that is missing - they perform better as an ensemble.  I assume that others see it the same way I do - but apparently not the case.

more painting over old work - maybe this is done - but didn't have to build a new stretcher ! - and the frame is cardboard - which I think I like because its free and its soft

This is the second documented variation of the previous post.
Its now turned sideways from the earlier version - with additions.
Just to see how this goes - sometimes.  And its still not done - so we'll see what happens next.

Trying some different things - trying to get it distilled

ah.. shows over and now my studio is a warehouse...more than kind of depressing.  I'm in the process of trashing old art that was in storage to make room and lighten the load

Only one more weekend day to see the show - Saturday July 27 - 11-2 are the gallery hours.  You will not see this piece - It found a new home with Peter and Catherine M.  Maybe you should adopt one of these - they need good homes.
